GUN DEFENSE

GUN CHARGES DEFENSE LAWYER

In order to lawfully own a gun in Illinois you must have a Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID card) issued to you and your gun must be registered. In order to lawfully be able to carry your gun with you outside of your home or business, you need additional permits like a Conceal and Carry permit. If found with a gun in your possession without being able to show your permits for them can result in jail time.
Defense of Firearm Charges — Gun and Bullets in Chicago, IL
In addition to not having the proper documentation for a gun, if you are charged with a gun charges like unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of illegal firearms, armed robbery and more, you are facing higher charges, prison time and expensive fines.

If you are charged with one of these weapons offenses, then you could be facing penalties for a Class 4 felony. These may include between one and three years of imprisonment and up to $25,000 in fines. A judge may also sentence an individual to probation for at least one year in lieu of a prison sentence. If the judge believes that there are extenuating circumstances, then they may elevate the crime to a higher class felony.

UUW Arrest? Call Now 773-616-0588

Whether you were arrested for an offense involving a prohibited use of firearms or are facing other criminal charges that are enhanced by the presence of guns, don't hesitate to contact me for a free case evaluation to discuss the matter and to begin working on a plan for your defense! I make myself available 24/7 to answer your questions.

Most felony gun charges (aggravated UUW) carry mandatory prison time. There are usually two options for a defendant with this type of charge. To begin, I will prepare a mitigation packet with the goal of obtaining a reduced offense with no jail time. If that is unsuccessful then I will litigate your case by filing a motion to suppress based on a Fourth Amendment violation or set your case for trial. Your remedy depends on several factors that I will assess and advise based on your particular case.
